Reiki

My interest in the chakras and enjoying the benefits of receiving reiki healing. I trained in level 1 & 2 with Lee-Anne Erskine Seery from The Wellbeing Hub in 2014, before going on to gain my Reiki Master certificate with her in February 2024.

Reiki means “universal life energy” and was founded in the late 20th century in Japan, by Dr Mikao Usui. Reiki is a type of energy healing and during these sessions, I use my hands to direct the energy, or chi, through the body via the 7 main chakras. Chakras are energy centres that spin in a clockwise direction. These can become blocked through stress, lack of physical activity or sleep, subsequently showing up as anxious or negative thoughts and physical pain. A reiki treatment can provide a balanced flow of energy, aiding a sense of wellbeing and spiritual renewal.

Reiki may  assist with pain management. “A 2018 meta-analysis of four randomised controlled trials (RCTs) into the use of Reiki to reduce pain over a range of medical conditions found that it produced a statistically significant reduction in pain. Similarly, a 2019 review in the British Medical Journal Supportive & Palliative Care, reported that “Reiki therapy is useful for relieving pain, decreasing anxiety / depression, and improving quality of life in several conditions “ Dr David R Hamilton

However, with all of this in mind, it is important to note that reiki is complementary and not a replacement for conventional medicine.
